Christian Beliefs

What We Believe

In considering our beliefs as Christians, we are immediately led to the awesome and mysterious nature of our divine, triune God. We believe in one everlasting God, manifest in three persons. We believe in God the Father as our creator and maker, the source of all creation. We believe Jesus is God's son, fully divine and fully human, sent to earth to redeem us from our sins. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the sustainer and guide of all.

Because of our innate nature to sin, and inability to turn from it, we are separated from God. Despite our sinful nature, God's grace was extended to all humanity through Christ Jesus, who chose to assume human form and be born of the Virgin Mary. Christ lived a sinless life, was falsely accused, and executed on the cross. After three days Christ rose from the dead; He then appeared to His followers and later ascended to heaven. Because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross, all humanity has access to the forgiveness of sins and to saving grace. Acknowledgement of and repentance from sin through the sacrifice of Christ, is the only requirement for reconciliation with God. The account of God's intimate relationship with humankind, historically presented in the Hebrew Scriptures, our Old Testament now fulfilled through the life of Jesus Christ and the blessings received through the gift of the Holy Spirit, is contained in the Holy Scriptures which we believe to be inspired by God.

Upon understanding and accepting the saving grace of Christ, humans are transformed into new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). We believe this means that all followers of Christ are to center our lives on furthering the kingdom Christ established on earth, by focusing on the core teachings of God's Holy scriptures  justice, mercy and faith (Matthew 23:23). This work of the Body of Christ  the Holy Christian Church — will be culminated when Christ returns and judges all humanity, living and dead. Followers of Christ eagerly await this time, when we are united with our Lord for eternity, in praise and worship of Him.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.
~ Matthew 23:23

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
~ John 3:16
